I was just juried into the Montery Bay Plein Air Painters, MBPAPA, as a signature member. This means I will be included in their signature member shows and other special events in the future. It was such an honor! I also have taken on the job of secretary for them this next year. I think it will be a great way to meet more of their members and also get to paint alongside some really good artists.
Even though I didn't participate in Open Studios this year, I've still been selling paintings recently. I sold the Merced River painting in the Paint the Parks show, then Half Dome Shadows, and Soquel Creek to a dear friend who was in my BSF class years ago. I also sold West Cliff Reflections to a collector from Virginia, who bought several Yosemite paintings last year before moving East, since her son is a ranger there.
I will be submitting entries into the Carmel Art Festival and other national competitions as the deadlines approach. Lee went to the gallery at Tahoe this week and brought home 15 paintings. They have been selling, but not paying me for the past three years, so after much discussion and repeated promises made by the owner, we finally decided it was best not to keep giving them artwork to sell without receiving any payment. I'm sad about it because I love to paint in the Sierras, and just completed three new ones two weeks ago there that I really like. I will be praying about finding a good gallery in Carmel that will be willing to take paintings from all my favorite locations and painting trips, plus lots of local scenes, as well.
