This was done in Hope Valley this Fall, after the first snow storm. It was freezing, but I loved the warm and cool colors playing off each other.
I've been busy painting down the coast near Carmel, Pebble Beach, Pt. Lobos since we've had beautiful weather and no fog or rain lately. I also spent the day entering five competitions and shows, and put together my new artist binder, which was an idea I got from the OPA blog. I've had various folders with all the different info from shows, ads, competitions, worskshops, etc., but now they are all in one place and easy to find and keep track of dates to submit, ship and pick up, etc. I don't really enjoy the deskwork part of being an artist, but it feels great to have it all organized and completed. Now I can get back out to plein air painting...the part I love! ( I did spend several days in the studio doing larger paintings to enter from smaller plein air pieces done earlier in the year. Some I liked and entered, others just never captured the life of the small original...an ongoing learning curve for me!
Look for a new ad coming put in Plein Air magazine soon, using this picture from Carson River. I also entered the Plein Air Salon competition with this and three other paintings...we'll see!
