Asilomar Spring 12x16
This is the completed painting done on location in about 2 1/2 hours. I used it as one of six sent to Southwest Art magazne for the article they will write on me in the June issue on plein air artists. I don't know which one the editor will choose for the article, but this will be among the others for an additional one page ad in the same issue. How I love doing this!

Asilomar Spring 12x16
This was our last SCOP paint out on 3/26/13. It was gorgeous weather, though a bit cold. This brightly colored ice plant is just a mile north of Asilomar beach area. We had over a dozen artists show up and everyone's painting looked beautiful! What a fun way to spend the day with great friends!

This little 9x12 plein air was done on a cool day in Pacific Grove. There was a lot of moisture in the air, and I loved the layers of trees.
This has been an exciting week. I just found out I had all three of my paintings juried into the upcoming MBPAPA signature member's show at Mountainsong gallery in May and June. They chose "Misty Cypress", "Coastal Colors" and "Jenny Lake Reflections" to be included in the show. I also was contacted Monday by the editorial staff at Southwest Art, and they have chosen me to have a full page article done on my plein air painting. They are going to interview me at the and of next week, and I will also have another full page ad in that same June issue, so that means I'll be showing 5-6 paintings. I'm very excited and honored, and got up in the early hours to plan what I'd say and which paintings to use. Time to pray through the studio for just the right pieces! A once in a life-time opportunity, for sure!
We also made plans this week to travel to Taos new Mexico in June to paint with Kevin Macpherson and spend time with him and Wanda just as friends. Such a kind invitation, especially since I had to cancel our painting trip down the Grand Canyon with him and other dear friends due to my recent health challenges.
Upcoming events: Plein Air Convention in Monterey/Carmel, April 10-14; Villa Angelica SCOP painting retreat in Carmel, April 29-May 3rd; hanging and hosting the MBPAPA signature show at Mountainsong Gallery in Carmel May 14-19, show will hang through June 10th; Lee and I will spend four nights at the Awahanee Hotel in Yosemite, where I plan to paint from dawn to dusk and then relax with my dear husband in the evenings, May 21-24; MBPAPA member's show reception in Pacific Grove 12-5:00, May 25th; I'll be taking three SCOP buddies to paint at Lake Tahoe and Hope Valley and stay at Tahoe cabin, June 7-11; painting with Kevin Macpherson in Taos June 22-30th; and hosting Hedi Moran and 12 painting buddies here for a workshop at my studio from August 19-24; and finally getting ready for Open Studios in October. Meanwhile, I'm waiting to hear back on my entries into several other national competitions. The results will be posted soon. Of course, through all this, I'm planning to paint, paint, and paint some more!
