This year's Carmel Art Festival was quite a challenge on many levels: I had been in bed the week before with severe shingles and thought I'd have to cancel, and then it rained, thundered and lightninged and blew a gale every day! But, the Lord was abundantly gracious and gave me the strength to paint 6 and then sent 6 new buyers, so I sold out by Saturday night! Also, the highlight of the event was the first night, James Rieser, the owner of the James Rieser Gallery in Carmel, bought my Pacific Grove Pinks painting, saying it was the best in the show. When I went to deliver it on Sunday, he invited me to show in his gallery. He chose 12 of my recent Carmel area paintings and displayed them already this week. I'm honored and so thrilled! It's my favorite gallery and where I've wanted to be represented for years! If you're in the area, please go by and say hello to him and see my paintings.

Ashness Bridge, 12/9
I was thrilled and so grateful to receive the Honorable Mention Award last night from Laurie Kersey, the judge and fabulous artist. "Ashness Bridge," 12/9, was done on location in the Lake District of England. A nice couple from England happened to be at the opening for the MBPAPA show at the Pacific Grove Art Center, and they actually have walked over this ancient little bridge so many times! Such a small world!
